New inventory of porcelain sets coming in. Love this one! A very hard to find set of 12 service plates by Royal Doulton; The white ground is banded in a subdued dark blue....almost a Williamsburg Blue.... with gilt edged Wedgwood blue cartouches with ornate central floral gilt decoration. The dark blue bands are decorated with heavy impasto gilt between the cartouches with graceful arabesques. An elaborate fleur de lis motif. The blue bands are edged with a gold border in a classic geometric pattern, and the rims are also gilt. Amazing artistry here, delicate, intricate highest quality. Each plate is marked (please see photos, as well for thee dimensions). Condition is very good. No flaws to note, the beaded gilt is amazingly intact. Normal signs of some use. There was some loss to the the dark blue bands. But I had these plates professionally restored. That means you should not put them into a dishwasher; but who would put extravagant vintage Royal Doulton service plates into a dishwasher anyway ;) A charming and formal service for your elegant dining. |
