	Here is a truly magnificent 19th century bronze sculpture. The nature of the bronze and subject matter is passionate. The detail is quite exceptional and the patina is very nice, oxidation on the base which is to be expected and some green verde oxidation going on in some of the flowing creases of the garments. This is an earlier bronze dating from the first half of the 19th century. It looks like the woman is either comforting a traveler or welcoming home her husband after a journey. You can see that he has knapsack around his waist with a canteen in it and his hat is tied on his back. There is no maker’s mark on it but I don’t see how that makes a differences – it is a true and wonderful bronze. It is a great one for those of us that love the classics. Measurements: 18”h x 9 7/8” at widest x 6 ¼” at deepest.
