Antique Gilt Carved Wood Frame Nautical Rope

Spectacular large 19th century picture frame in the design of a nautical rope. It is a very architectural frame with approx nine layers of beautiful moldings. The frame is carved wood, gesso and gold gilt. There is a combination of oil and water gilding which makes the high and low spots totally superb and elegant. It is a rare frame indeed. Not only would it make a majestic frame for a picture or painting but it would be equally dynamite for a mirror. It is rare and wonderful in a remarkable state of preservation. The condition is outstanding.

Overall it measures 32 ½” at widest x 4” at deepest x 46 3/8” at highest with the sight size 21 5/8” x 35 5/8”.
