	A very interesting 19th century architectural water fountain head. I believe it is made of clay – the detail is very fine and it has quite a primitive look. It appears to me to be a rainbow trout but I’m not quite sure. The piece is not quite perfect – it has a little bit of damage - the fin on his back has been knocked off at some point and you can tell that it happened quite a long time ago and there is a little chunk missing from the back around the edge. The form is good and the color of the clay appears to me to be just natural clay a little bit to the grayish side also as I’m looking it over now I noticed that one of the gills underneath the body appears to have been knocked off and glued back on. I don’t see a foundry mark on the fountain which is odd because you would think something this fantastic would make the maker proud – but probably just made by a small potter and that could be the reason it is not marked.
