Late Georgian Mourning Brooch Representing Two People, 1810

Jewelry: Mourning/Sentimental Jewelry

A semi-rare English late Georgian period memorial/mourning brooch made during the reign of King George IV, commemorating the passing of two people. The face of the brooch has a convex shaped rock crystal covering braided shades of gray hair. The bezel surrounding the crystal is enameled in black with gold lettering that reads: “Heaven has in store, What I have lost.”  The very edge has the tiniest of white enamel. On the backside is the original C clasp closure and elongated pin stem. The pin is ever so slightly bent. It's inscribed with the initials TWD, HD and Ob 14 & 18 Dec 1810 which represents two people, more than likely a married couple, who passed within days of one another. In excellent condition.
