1740 English Shepherdess Miniature Portrait Ivory

Beautiful woman dressed as a Shepherdess wearing a dress with red bodice laced with blue over white chemise. Puffed sleeves are are tied with yellow bows and trimmed with lace. She wear a red corsage, gold necklace and earring set with red stones. Her dark hair is upswept beneath a straw hat trimmed with pink roses.

Above her left hand is a signature that I cannot make.

I just returned from Europe and with the weak dollar and high demand for Miniature portraits, it was hard to find good pieces at affordable prices. Very little under $1000. for sale.

Fabulous piece, quite early and beautifully painted.

Due to construction, I have not taken it from its frame. I see very strong color and no chips or cracks.
