	1790 English Miniature Portrait Ivory By W. Thicke Gentleman Fine Art: Miniature Portrait
	Circa 1790 Miniature portrait on ivory by Listed artist. W. Thicke. Portrait is approx. 1 3/4 by 2 inches and very nicely framed in a gilt metal locket type frame 2 3/4 by 3 1/4 inches. Back is gilt metal and front has glass. Gentleman in white powdered wig with a very interesting face. Brown eyes. Wearing a blue coat , striped waistcoat and tied white cravat. Remnants of signature on the side. W. Thicke Exhibited at the RA 1787-1814. He painted in Leeds and London. Was thought to the the father of 2 of Minature portrait artists, Charlotte and Eliza. His paintings come up rarely at auction. I guarantee this is a W. Thicke portrait.
