17th C Pair English Miniature Portraits Ivory Frame

Approx. 5 inch ebonized square frame with center medallion. Medallion is approx. 3 inches in diameter. Ivory surround with gold gilt beads, medallions and frame trim. Portraits are apprx. 1 by 3/4 inches each.

2 Van Dyck looking Gentleman with lacy collars and jackets of Nobility. Both are on a dark grey background and they are quite detailed for their size.

Due to construction, I have not removed them from their frames and so I am not sure what the portraits are painted on.

I just returned from Europe and with the weak dollar and high demand for Miniature portraits, it was hard to find good pieces at affordable prices. Very little under $1000. for sale.

Fabulous piece, quite early and beautifully painted.
