1800 American Miniature Portrait Ivory Gentleman Quirky With Hair Art

Approx. 2 1/2 by 2 3/4 inches framed and 1 3/4 by 2 1/4 inches painting.

He is wearing a black coat, white waistcoat and cravat. Corkscrew hairstyle, blue eyes and large nose and ear. I adore these Miniatures where the sitter looks quite quirky and not like the Matinee Idol type.

Housed in what looks to be original copper frame , the reverse with glazed aperture to reveal monogram on plaited hair.

Lovely condition with no seen or chips to ivory....Quite strong color.

Only thing I see is a small brown dot under his left eye. I am not sure if it is meant to be a mole painted or just a piece of loose material.

Great old American piece...Estate thought it to be a relative from the South...most likely Georgia. Monogram looks to be TF.
