1840 French Palais Royal Musical Sewing Box Accessories

Box is approx. 2 1/4 by 4 1/2 by 6 1/2. The domed lid is painted with animals around an urn within a floral border.

The lid interior with mirror over a fitted velvet tray with floral painted pincushion. Original silk cover with center bow trim and matching trim around the mirror.

Accessories include :

Pair of pierced snowflake mother of pearl winders in circular mirror base compartments

Mother of pearl thimble with double gilt rim

Mother of pearl folding pick/tweezer

Mother of pearl handled stiletto

pair of steel bladed scissors with gilt mounts and carved mother of pearl handles to plain loops.

Mother of pearl engraved rectangular needle case

Cut glass scent bottle with gilt cap.

Musical movement with divided comb complete with tool squab and in working condition.

Original key for lock

Sold in the Palais Royal in Paris and even at the time was an expensive souvenir.

So rare to be in such good condition and so complete. I have seen these only at High End Shows for $5000. to $6000.

There is a tiny chip to the wood upper right corner, a tiny crack to one loop of the scissors and the pansy has either been removed or fallen from the Needle case.
