1890 French Papier Mache Growler Bull Dog Pull Toy Life Size

Approx. 14 by 20 inches, close to life size.

How the French love their dogs! They created this Masterpiece in homage to their Native Breed. A Pull Toy developed for adults. Pull him by the chain, he rolls on wheels, nods his head, shows lots of teeth and growls.

White with black spots, perked ears and dark brown eyes. A bit of tongue is always showing.

Badger hair collar which imitated the straw collars worn by French Bull Dogs of the day. This would protect them lest they would get stuck chasing some vermin down a Badger hole.

Great definition to his body and an aire of Authenticity that you think you see him moving or looking at you.

Wonderful condition with everything being original. Rolls well by his chain.

I have looked at these many times at the Lourve Antiquities in Paris and the Animal Antiques Store in New Orleans.They regularly sell for between $3000, and $5000.
