18th C English Miniature Portrait Gentleman Reading A Book

Painting us approx. 3 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches. Framed it is approx. 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches.

Beautifully painted. Gentleman with rolled powdered wig is seated in a chair. A side profile with a book in his right hand. Quite handsomely dressed in a black coat with large silver buttons, a gold vest and a white lace shirt with foulard.

Frame in wood and in a Venetian style . Painted in dark green and gold with a red rub. Some gesso overlay with a few cracks and repairs though stable. Newer glass piece and no backing.

Painting overall is quite nice with just a bit of painted loss to the background
