| Superb French 18th C Sevres Porcelain with Ormolu Decoration. Approx. 6 by 9 1/2 inches. Miniature portrait of the Duchess of Orleans which is approx. 3 by 4 1/2 inches. Quite large and beautifully painted. In 30 years, this is only the 2nd Sevres frame I have ever seen. It is quite wonderful. White ground with yellow. Bronze ormolu decoration of the wreath and garland of the court of Louis XVI. Small painted flowers between the ormolu. Side decoration of a trumpet and floral garland. The other side has a quiver with same floral garland. The portrait is signed with what looks to be Vicpurin?. A stunning beauty of the 18th C Court of France. Long curled and powdered wig capped by a large soft yellow hat. Hand to her chin with very delicate features of her face. Due to construction, I have not removed the portrait for inspection. I see no chips or cracks and the colors are quite strong. Frame has an easel back and looks to be backed in copper. Rare and wonderful piece for the Sophisticated Collector. |
