	18th C French Vernis Martin painted papier mache Billet Doux etui. Approx. 6 inches tall and 1 inch in diameter. Wood covered in papier mache and beautifully painted with 18th C figures and landscapes. Rare 3 parts and lined in "faux" natural tortoise shell. Use was the top for love letters and messages and the bottom could have held a scent bottle. Scent bottle is not present. Colors of putty with a verdant green and figures with red detailing. For age over 200 years, condition is quite good. Some craquelure to finish and bottom piece has 2 small chips. Rare and quite fantastic
