	18th C French Vernis Martin Bonbonniere Tortoise Shell Box Antiques: Antique Boxes
	18th C French Vernis Martin painted Bonbonniere Box with natural tortoise shell interior and lid is painted with a scene of cherubs. Superb quality. Approx. 3 inches in diameter and 1 1/4 inches tall. I believe box is of papier mache covering the shell. Lid is magnificently painted with 3 winged cherubs. In a cloud background, one is holding an arrow, the other a flower wreath and the third is lying down with a come hither repose. Most definitely a box signifying Love and Attraction. A rare piece of chocolate or a covered almond , presented in the box, would have been the real prize of the time. Impossible to find and in wonderful condition. Painting a Masterpiece
