18th C Miniature Military Portrait On Ivory En Grisaille Andrews

Approx. 1 1/4 inches.

Portrait in profile in Military attire with weeping willow overhead ..perhaps identifying as a Memorial piece.

Wearing large hat, tasseled epaulets and hair en queue.

Initials on the front of MG and on the reserve is etched Grattan.

Information lists artist as attrib. to Samuel Andrews.

Andrews painted from 1795 to 1807. Painted in Madras and Calcutta and was known for profiles painted in grisaille in brown...this is certainly such a piece. He is a listed artist with paintings selling in the many thousands.

Gold bracelet clasp with blue enamel trim.

Very good condition with no chips or cracks and very good color.
