1920's Fortuny Silk Velvet Pillow - 15 Th Century Pomegranite Design

This is an original Fortuny Pillow made by the same workshop that made Fortuny Dresses, from the remnant's.  The backing is the same lining used in the clothing line for gowns. Original label on the back . The form is newly added.

Fortuny used two methods for stenciling gilt metallic finishes to velvet. Gauffered which has a raised or relief effect and flattened finish which leaves the velvet pile flattened where stenciled.  This is the later. Coral or Salmon colored velvet with silver metallic gauffered overlay.
