19th C Fine Silk Top Hat * Sz 7 Youmans, N Y City

EXCEPTIONAL Silk Top Hat.  Youmans New York City Hat Shop.  19th Century.  EM Youmans...the owner of this elegant hat shop chain, was the father of Vincent Youmans (famous American Song Writer .....on a par with Gershwin, but lesser known).  This dates to the 19th century.   Youmans had a major fire in 1900 which destroyed their Hat Shop that was in the Albemarle Hotel on Broadway.  

**The silk plush....often referred to as Beaver...is more plush than many of the top hats we have sold.  This hat is of an extremely fine quality, in our opinion.  The structure is very sturdy, high quality, the lining is a beautiful watered silk.  You can see the Youmans label in the photos.  Black Felt band around crown.

C O N D I T I O N:  Excellent gently used condition.  A very small and almost insignificant ping towards top.  This does not photograph.
