A beautiful circa 1840’s fitted ivory sewing case with gold tools made for the French market. The top and bottom sections of this case were designed in such a manner that each tool fit into a recessed opening carved directly from solid ivory, not allowing for any replacement tools. This case is comprised of five implements: scissors, thimble, bodkin, needle case and stiletto and are all original to the case. The engraved design on the tools, hinges and upper and lower lockplate are all of a scrolling floral design. This case is in wonderful condition with only some slight yellowing to the top of the ivory from age.
