Our commitment to quality provides our shop owners with a true venue to sell their high end items, and unlike other malls we will not waiver in our pledge to you or our customers!

Our monitors regularly scan Malleries to insure the level of quality remains the same in every single store. The same standards will apply to all shop owners. If an item does not meet the the standards of quality we have set forth and outlined below we will notify the shop owner via email stating the problem and the item will be placed in the back room. The shop owner is always given the opportunity to correct the listing and once the item is placed back in the shop it will be re-evaluated.

It is essential that we continue to be associated with quality merchandise as well as good business ethics. All shop owners are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and to maintain a level of trust which will insure each shop with a constant flow of repeat customers. If we stay united in our practice of how and what we sell, we will ultimately achieve our goal and that is to stand out above the rest!

Item Titles
Your Item Title is an opportunity to capture the interest of customers at the same time it is the most important Search Engine Optimization factor. Writing a good item titles using important keywords relevant to your item listing is important to targeted customers finding your item on the search engines.
  1. An item shall not be listed more than once.
Relevant Item Titles: It is essential to write good item titles. A good item title in combination with a good item description will increase your search engine ranking. Item titles should always use compelling keywords or key phrases that is relevant to the item listed. For more information on writing good item titles click here.

For shop owners who list on other online venues it is important not to duplicate the title. Change the title or include other important keywords.

  2. Keyword Spamming: Keyword spam is the excessive repetition of keywords on a page and may raise a red flag to search engines. In particular, Google has been known to de-list sites employing this technique or lower the ranking of sites that do this. To prevent spamming you are limited to 64 characters in your item title.

  3. Spelling & Grammar: Misspelled words appear unprofessional. Proofread your listing and check for misspelled words.

  4. Punctuations, Capitals Letters & Symbols: Don't fill your title with punctuations, symbols or all capital letters to draw attention to your listing. For example, a question mark to indicate that it is possibly is not an acceptable item title. (Sevres?). Text written solely in capital letters appears unprofessional, is tiring on the eyes and detracts from the reading experience, even on a subliminal level. If you're looking to attract serious buyers, a few well-chosen words and terms will work every time.
Sub-Title
The item sub-title is for emphasis important key information about your item. Please read below for more information
  1. Keyword Spamming: Keyword spam is the excessive repetition of keywords. Word/s that are repeated too often may raise a red flag to search engines. In particular, Google has been known to de-list sites employing this technique, and their indexing algorithm specifically lowers the ranking of sites that do this.

  2. Character Limit: To prevent keyword spamming, the sub-title only allows up to 35 characters. Text after 35 will not be displayed on the item page.

Descriptions

Supporting Pages
Write informative item description. Items with a good description has a better chance of being found and sold. State exactly what it is, what it's made of, and who made it. What makes your item special? What are the special features? Include hallmarks, makers mark, provenance if known, historical significance. What is the purpose of the item. Also include a condition report and item measurements. This is your opportunity to successfully sell your item. Include as much information as possible. More details help your buyer to make an informed purchase, and will give you an advantage over sellers who don't provide enough information.

  1. Relevant Content: The item description should tell the reader about the item.

  2. Condition Report: Your item listings must contain information about the condition.

  3. Keyword Spamming: Important keywords should also be used in the item description but not copied exactly as it is written in the title. Mix the words up within your description. Keyword spam is the excessive repetition of keywords on a page. Word/s that are repeated too often may raise a red flag to search engines. In particular, Google has been known to de-list sites employing this technique, and their indexing algorithm specifically lowers the ranking of sites that do this.

  4. Links In Descriptions: Items that containing links in the description will be placed in the backroom immediately.

  5. Other: Text color must comply with Malleries standards, neon colors for example is not acceptable. Blinking text, scripts will be removed.

List Price
  1. Item List Price: All items within your shop must have a price. Items without price or listed as $0.00 will be placed in the backroom. The shop owner will be notified by email. When an item is sold and the shop owner opts to keep the item displayed in their shop the price must remain at the actual sold price. Items that do not show a price or if the price is deemed an unrealistic selling price, the item will be placed in the backroom.
Item Images

Part 1
Good images of your item is the most powerful selling tool on the Internet. Buyers are unable to touch or feel the item that you list for sale and depend on good images when determining its purchase.

At the same time good item images is an important part of your business image and shows your potential clients or customers that you're worthy of their trust and ultimately their business. Sellers who take the time to take good pictures and present them carefully reassures the buyers are more likely to go to the trouble of providing good customer service, and buyers know this, at least on a subconscious level. It is important to list your item with many images that are clear, different views including hallmarks, makers mark, signatures and item flaws.

Item images that do not meet the quality standard are as follows:

  1. Actual Item: Item images must be actual pictures of the "actual" item for sale. Images taken from the Internet and displayed as your own item is not acceptable.

  2. Images: All Images must be crisp, clear and denote an overall professional appearance at all times. Any photograph that is blurred or does not meet our standards of photography will be automatically placed in the back room without prior notice. Once the image is corrected it may be re-listed with no additional fees charged.

  3. Image Backgrounds: Images must be free from distractive or cluttered backgrounds. Do not use backgrounds using distracting colors. Do not use borders.

  4. Exposure & Contrast: Good Item images should not be underexposed (too dark) or overexposed (too light). When photographing your item attempt to give the image a sense of dimension by using good light placement. For example; placing your main light at higher than the item and at 45 degree angle in reference to the item. Avoid using images that have too much contrast i.e. harsh shadows or too flat.

  5. Image Color Cast: Proper camera white balance take into account the "color temperature" of a light source. For example taking photographs in the shade will give your item a blue color cast and will not render the item its true color. Incorrect settings can create unsightly blue, orange, pink or even green color casts. Images with the previously mentioned color cast is not acceptable.

  6. Hallmarks, Makers Mark, Signatures: A sharp clear image of hallmarks, makers mark or a signature.

  7. Group Image: The primary image is the image that is displayed throughout the Malleries and is the larger image on the item page. While it is acceptable to show an item grouping in your secondary or last image, a group image is not acceptable as your primary image. If items in a group image is not included in the listed price, the image must specifically state Each sold separately.

  8. Symbols: Use of symbols or arrows implies that the seller is unprofessional. Images with excessive use of arrows is not acceptable.

  9. Other: Contact information such as domain name, email address or phone numbers are not acceptable. Items that include item images that show contact information will be placed in the backroom.

  10. Other: Body parts in item images are not acceptable. Items that do not comply with this policy will be placed in the backroom.

  11. Other: Image borders can be no wider than 1px in width. In addition the border color must be approved. Items that do not comply with this policy will be placed in the backroom.
Main
Item Images

Part 2
Main image in your item listing:
The images below refer to the main image (or your first image in your item listing). Secondary images are for the purpose of showing close-ups or different views of the item.

Good images of your item is the most powerful selling tool on the Internet. Buyers are unable to touch or feel the item that you list for sale and depend on good images when determining its purchase. We can not stress enough the importance of good professional images. For more information read below.

bad lighting

What makes an image professional?
  1. Lighting: Good lighting with good contrast.

Angle: When taking an item picture most people will stand and point the camera downward toward the item. Instead, get to the same level as the item.

  2. Background: Image backgrounds should be uncluttered and the focus should be on the item. After taking your pictures look at the results carefully. Can you tell that you are using the kitchen counter / wall as your backdrop? The examples the items use photographic backdrop paper available at a local or online photography store. Other suggestions are to search eBay for Muslim Backdrops

  3. Space: Good spacing around the image is very important.

Look at the images on the left. Which one appears more professional? Note how Example A shows a image where the item is cropped to tight then notice how the image to the right of image A has space on all sides.

For good placement of an item, imagine a tic tac toe board and crop the image so the item sits in the lower 2/3rds and a very slight off center.

Use a good photo editing program such as Photoshop.

What makes an image look unprofessional?
Bad item images can actually devalue your item. With a little understanding and adjustments you can improve your images greatly. Read below to view typical problems:
  1. Example A: The image is cropped too tight even cutting off the top of the vase. Compare the item to the vase shown above.

  2. Example B: Again this item is cropped too tightly. It is cropped where there is too much space to the right.

  3. Example C: In this example you have an image that has a pink background. Have you ever noticed how pictures taken with a room light has a yellow cast, images taken on a cloudy day have a blue cast. This is due to camera settings that are not set up for the lighting conditions..

Important: An image with improper color cast will also change the color of the colors of the item. You may end up with a customer who is not satisfied because they thought the item had burgundy rather than red.

  4. Other: Dust or dirt on background, hands holding an image, blurry images, harsh lighting, pink or blue color cast.

Other

Depending on the type of shop you have selected (ie Business Account or E-Commerce Account), your shop includes html pages. These pages are to allow a shop owner name branding.
