An amazing silk velvet wall hanging made from two lengths joined together. The ground is a rich navy blue, the design of woven silk and gold gilt threads. Rarely seen metallic threads of blue and pink are in the design with a floral motif with meandering leaves and scrolls. Backed with coral silk damask with a Chinese geometric design motif. Made in China for the French market, c1900.
Condition: Beautiful clean mint condition of the front, perfect for hanging. The back lining has small areas of thread loss.
