Dating from 1893-1894, this set of salt dishes and spoons comes with the original box. Each dish a cockle shell resting on four bun feet. Each spoon carries forward the cockle shell design with a little ball at the end matching the bun foot. Solid little salts! Dimensions: dish is 2 3/8" long, 2 1/8" wide and 1 1/8 high. The spoons are 2 1/2" long and 3/8" wide. Marks: each piece fully marked with the sterling silver standard Lion Passant, indicating the set is comprised of 925/1000 parts pure silver. The Birmingham city mark (an anchor) the year marks for 1893-1894, and a maker's mark: T. H. Condition: some oxidation on the pieces; salt will do that. It can be removed. Also, the hinge of the box is broken. |
