Chinese Jade PettiPoint Purse with Carnelian Vintage Handbag made for Export

 

Here is a lovely antique RARE Chinese Export micro petit point purse or handbag. Features an incredible sterling silver repousse engraved reticulated, filigree Hardware that was Gold Plated. This gorgeous vintage purse was made in China and sold through the Red Guard shop. The ers from Saks Fifth Avenue discovered these purses at the shop and imported them to sell in their luxury retail locations. The gilt repousse silver purse frame is Heavily Gold Plated and has Jade, & Carnelian The handle is a jade bangle where the coloration changes to a russet. The outer rigid purse body is elaborately pettipoint stitched with colorful flowers and leaves, the background is a cream body behind the multicolor flowers and leaves the bottom comes to a point so that the bag itself is a triangle with a gusset bottom The interior is lined in cream silk, with an elasticized pocket. The purse is in immaculate condition and looks as if it were never used.

 

Chinese purse Made for export This bag is made from petit point with a Creamy Beige Background and multicolored Floral patterning on both sides. The handle is a jade bangle with a 3 1/4" diameter. The clasp is Carved Jade and has excellent tension. The jade clasp is 2" x 1" in size. the little stones on the frame are Jade and Carnelian The back is exactly the same as the front with the exception of the carved Jade clasp. This is gilded metal, there is a little darkening to the metal which adds to the beauty of the finish. This is quite a distinctive & collectible vintage Chinese item and very difficult to find in this exquisite condition. I am not sure of the date that this was made - my guess would have been the 1930's But my research in inconclusive. 11" from the top of the handle to the base of the purse 9" inches at the widest point 1" Deep

 

The Victorian Era started the crazefor all things Chinese or Chinoiserie rarely find a purse like this This was very expensive and special when made. With the repatriation of all things Chinese going back to China, this has become even more valuable.
