Antique Cobalt Blue Cherub Compote Centerpiece

Here is an absolutely wild compote! It is so ornate and so incredible that it is really hard to describe. The shapely bold pottery centerpiece is all ribbed in form. The richness of the cobalt blue is incredible. It is heavily glazed. It sits on a bronze colored base that is made up of four classical dolphin heads and at the very base the feet are seashells. At each end of the compote there is a mounted seahorse with cherubs sitting along the side holding their reigns. I don’t know much about this compote other then I can guarantee you that it is 100 years old or more. Who made it? I have no idea. It is however in very good condition except for one old repaired break to one of the seahorse’s feet. Of course you know the reason I bought this because of the dolphin base! Quite spectacular – a grand decorative item for anywhere. It is large, it is heavy, it is beautiful and the detail is very very fine. The combination of the gold and cobalt blue is breathtakingly exciting!
