Jean-Baptiste Aucoc, silver-smith to King Louise Phillipe and Napoleon III, produced this magnificent guilloche sterling silver coffee and tea set. The handles and spouts are decorated in an intricate Gordian knot pattern. The foliate mounted handles of the sugar bowl are also finely chased. The Gordian knot motif edging the circular feet, the lids as well as the upper boundary of the cream and sugar. The finials on the tea pot and coffee pot are truly superb Sumptuously chased floral, foliate confections, adorned with berries and tiny buds. There is a monogram on one side of each piece: "BEV". These pieces are all heavy French .950 sterling, in excellent condition and in total weigh an impressive 2945 grams, that is nearly 7 pounds of solid silver. Interiors of the sugar bowl and cream jug are coated with 18k gold. A rare and regal masterpiece offered to you with pleasure. Please see photographs for all dimensions and marks. In addition to the Aucoc punch, the Minerve 1st titre and engraved "AUCOC AINE", the sugar bowl bears the head of mercury; a mark struck for free on pieces being exported.
