	Item #: 4-592-0 Antique French Country Trunk Steamer Chest Smoke Grain Comment: This is an old one Dovetail construction and hammered iron handles make this a great piece. The exterior has smoke graining, which was accomplised by painting a light-colored base coat, then applying varnish over top. Before the varnish is completely dry, a lighted candle is passed near the surface causing soot in the smoke to adhere to the fresh varnish, leaving a curious result on the surface of the trunk.
