	Antique French Pottery Confit Pot Porcelain, Pottery: Pottery Porcelain
	French pottery has become a classic accent for every room adding a sense of grounding and history. This French Confit Pot is made from red clay consistent with the clay available in the area. Wonderful colors that work well in any decor, the base glaze color is orange or pumpkin with a large splotch of green which was the color choice of the well to do. The glaze continues 3/4" down the vessel with no glazing on the base or the inside of the pot. Ribbing on the inside from the potters fingers. It reveals all the poise of "primitive art, painted with slashes of yellow and sprigs of delicate green and blue vines. Circa 19c. The tint of this yellow is quite amazing! Confit pots were used as far back as the Napoleon period to preserve fruit, vegetables and meats. It is solid, no cracks or repairs but does show use and wear as would be expected for pottery of this age only to add to the old world charm of the piece. Large and heavy weighing a little over 9 pounds.
