An exquisite 19th century fitted Pietra Dura jewel box with precious stones that form the decoration to top and sides. The Pietra Dura on top depicts a bird sitting on a branch, on the sides there are six oval Pietra Dura plaques depicting butterflies.The Pietra Dura plaques are set in gilt metal muntings.The box itself is covered with red velvetand tufted with blue velvet inside. The box is in perfect condition and can be dated at the 19th century.
