Antique Micromosaic Lapis Lazuli Figural Lion Box

The round micromosaic which can be dated to the turn of the 18th century is depicting a lion and is of highest quality and extreme beauty. The tesserae of the micromosaic are so tiny that they can hardly be perceived with the eye. The expression of the animal is a sign of utmost craftsmanship and precision. The gold rimmed micromosaic is set in a hexagonal shaped Lapis Lazuli box which is of later date.
