Antique Spanish Colonial Oil On Copper Jesus Reliquary

A Spanish Colonial "The Good Shepard" (El Buen Pastor) reliquary or pendant. The miniature oil on copper painting depicting a richly dressed walking Christ with a staff in hand as the Good Shepard is typically represented. The figure is wrapped in a red cape trimmed in gold with an azure gown decorated with gold rosettes, all the details of the decoration are in raised gold leaf typical of the Cuzco School Colonial Paintings. Christ is also seen holding a rope symbolic of the lost lamb. The painting is encased in a simple serrated silver frame with a thin rope border of rectangular form and protected by a replaced glass cover and with loop for suspension.

Measures 3.25 inches long without the bail, 1.5 inches wide and it weighs 41.1 grams.
