	An antique Aide Memoire, a very rare and unique combination of tortoise shell and ivory. The hinged top opens to reveal a thick ivory wafer (thickness of a postcard). The whole structure is made of two carved tortoise shell plaques decorated with scrolls and florishes in high relief. The ivory wafer is held by two hinges attached to the shell. It can also house a pen or a pencil. Made by a skilled creaftsman. It is elaborate and finely carved. Condition: Excellent. Measurements: 4 1/4" by 3".
