	Antiques French Silver Covered Vegetable Dish By Aucoc A. Antiques: Silver
	Magnificent Antique French silver covered serving dish, Circa 1880, and marked by the famous silversmith Aucoc Aine. This vegetable serving dish, “legumier”, has 3 parts, as it should be, and each carries the Minerve mark ( French state guarantee for 95% silver), as well as an engraved coat of arms representing 2 standing lions on each side of a symbol surmounted by a royal crown. The lid’s knob is an incredibly well made and beautiful putti holding a bunch of grapes in his left hand. The cover and the outside bowl have 2 absolutely gorgeous knot form handles with a superb attachment to the body. The liner top features also scalloped edges around 6 ribs and has 2 adorable little shells as handles. Each of the 2 bowls carries 2 additional marks. One is the name of the silversmith, Aucoc A., and the other, the losange (indicating it is silver) with the logo of the silversmith, a rooster (coq in French) which is a pun for Aucoc. The total weight is 61oz and it was made Circa 1880. It is a museum quality piece made by one of the 5 or 6 most famous French silversmiths of the 19th Century (13.5”W x 8”H)
