This authentic Hermès 40 cm Saddle Ardennes Birkin is in better than excellent previously owned condition overall.   Hermès bags are considered the ultimate luxury item the world over. Hand stitched by skilled craftsmen, wait lists of a year or more are commonplace. This particular Birkin is in Saddle Ardennes leather; truly the equestrian tanned leather that is so desirable.   

 Ardennes leather is no longer in production, though it is a considered one of the best wearing leathers available. Ardennes is more rigid than Togo, but has a softer hand than Chevre. It is scratch resistant and water resistant; it also holds and maintains the shape of a Birkin well over time.  This is crucial, especially in the 40 cm size.   The grain is large and flat; it creates a lovely texture. Overall extremely durable and desirable.  

 Sophisticated palladium hardware adds a refined accent to the total package.  Double rolled handles are carried in hand or at the elbow. Coordinating chevre (goat skin) lining with one side zippered pocket.  Blind stamp intact.  Made in France.
