Beautiful Carved Oval Stone Came

Oval stone cameo brooch dated at about 1850. The cameo depicts the head and shoulder of a mythological figure and is set in a 14K yellow gold frame with a twisted wire. The figure has a matte finish which stands out from the polished ground. The carved detail of the hair is extraordinary.
