Early Burl Wood Box possibly a tobacco jar from the late 19th century. An absolute masterpiece done in spalted white birch burl. If you are a collector of fine primitives or burl, this was meant to be. It will make a wonderful companion to your prized burl collection. This burl wood box is great in form and figure and is in mint condition--- NO scratches, chips or anomalies anywhere - well taken care of thru the years. The finely carved locking lid has a burl slat that rotates on a burl center pin button and locks snugly into the grooves on the integral side posts. The one piece body also has two sets of two very fine light scribes around its circumference.
Measurements: 5 1/4 across and 2 3/4 height.
