Chanel Chain necklace in antique gold/bronze finish, with double sided pendant. One side of pendant is a mirror (perfect for you night out to check on your lipstick) and the other is textures gold with CC symbol.
This gold/bronze tone pendant bears the signature tag from the House of Chanel. It is marked "Chanel 2 CC 9 Made in France".
Karl Lagerfeld was appointed the couturier for Chanel in 1983. Shortly thereafter, he hired Victoire de Castellane as head designer of Chanel costume jewelry, where she remained head designer until 1998.
Pieces designed by de Castellane circa 1986 to 1989 are identifiable by their oval signature plate. At the top of the plate is the word CHANEL, accompanied on each side by the copyright and trademark. At the bottom of the plate is the signature MADE IN FRANCE. In the middle of the plate is the CC logo with the number 2 on the left side and an additional single-digit number on the right. The numbers on both sides of the logo identify the season for which the jewelry was produced. 2 CC 3, for example, identifies the piece as produced for Season 23, and 2 CC 5 identifies it as produced for Season 25.
Most of these plates are soldered or otherwise attached directly to the piece, with a few pieces (e.g., necklaces) marked by a hanging oval tag with the same signature found on other pieces from this period of time. To the best of my knowledge, the first of these signatures begins with Season 23 and ends with Season 29. Therefore, this pendant necklace represents the last such design for the House of Chanel by Castellane and dates to 1989.
Necklace measures 35" long and pendant is approx. 1.8" long and 1.8" wide.
In good vintage condition, with signs of wear normal for its age .
