Circa 1900 " Tree Of Life" American Handmade Quilt

An American handmade quilt, circa 1900 in an old pattern called “tree of life”. This originally was purchased from Laura Fisher quilts and antiques in New York City, a leading quilt expert. The appliqued trees are grass green on white cotton fabric with a green saw tooth border surrounding the trees. Each of the tree squares has a simple horizontal topstitch while the surrounding white squares are quilted with a floral motif. The border around the edge has both diagonal and floral quilting all finished off with a green binding. There are 7-8 stitches to the inch and all beautifully hand done, nice even stitching. This is a summer weight quilt but still heavy enough for cool nights with a cotton batting.

Condition: Excellent condition for it's age, several faint and tiny spots on the front side in two areas and one dime size spot on the back that doesn't go through to the front. Binding needs a little stitching on two corners, otherwise in wonderful condition and ready to use.
