Egyptian Revival Bookslide

Egyptian Revival brass and rosewood bookslide, of English origin, circa 1875.  This piece has a simple sliding mechanism which allows it to become larger to accommodate more ( or larger) books. Each end has pierced and tooled brass with a 1 1/2" medallion of an Egyptian Royal in an elaborate headdress.A striking example of the 19th C. fascination with the East.  In excellent condition.
