	19th Century Cast Iron Egyptian Nubian Figural Lamp. Cast in Iron with impressed foundry mark of “The Kramer Bros Co”1870 Dayton Ohio. The last number of the date is illegible, but there is no question at all that it dates from the 1870’s.The Kramer Bros factory is famous for they’re work in cast iron items , such as garden benches & fountains. I believe this figure was originally a gas burning torchere lamp. It has now been fitted for electricity. Of course this guy weighs a ton. The surface of the body is in a verde green wash, the base is in black enamel & gold paint. There is rust showing through in some spots. This sculpture measures 81” high overall. The Nubian is 60” high & the base is 21” high x 16” square.Ok now that I have the description done ,I have a few thought to share.Somewhare in the back of my mind I know I’ve seen this sculpture ,maybe it was in my former life or perhaps in one of the hundreds of reference books I have ,( I keep looking through them as time permits) but in the picture that I see this Egyptian Revival sculpture is vividly painted in enameled, colors of off white ,gold , red & black. So typical of superior Egyptian culture & he stood in the entry way as the torch he hold in his hand glows with the gas flame.
