This English perfume coffer is in excellent condition. It is in octagonal form. All applied gilt bronze mounts are fire gilt. The top piece of bronze has bright cut engraving. There are no losses. All perfume bottles are in excellent condition; two have glass stoppers one has cork. The wood veneer used being Calamander was imported from India (Queen Victoria was empress of India). This piece was made in England. The retailers name and address is engraved into the interior hinge, being; Atkinson 24 Old Bond Str. W. ( The West end of London near Picadilly Circus; very exclusive retailers there). This is a fine example of a perfume coffer. This piece dates from the 1870s; 4th quarter 19th century. This Piece is Elizabethan Revival in style. London society was fascinated with artifacts derived from their recent Empire of India Measurements: The height is 4 7/8 inches by 5 5/8 square
