A charming 19thC engraving of a mandrake or mandragora  printed on laid paper measuring 12 3/4" x 8". The mandrake is a poisonous plant of the nightshade family that thrives throughout Europe. It is said that this plant resembles the human body in form. This  engraving comes on a gilt wooden frame. It is hinged with acid free tape on acid free board. There is some foxing just outside of the image on the surrounding board. Otherwise it is in good condition.
