European Silver Mounted Decanter

A great decanter The blown crystal decanter is delicately & elaborately engraved with lovely summer flower sprays. The decanter is mounted with silver repousse around the bottom half & at the neck & topped off with a figural stopper .The stopper is really interesting, being a peasant man in European dress holding a goose under each arm. The repousse work in all of the silver is quite exceptional, very well defined, the scenes are of an outdoor celebration where men, women & children are dancing, drinking & eating .This decanter has an interesting feature, in that the figural stopper screws into the top & it also has a pouring spout on either side .It has all the maker hallmarks on the bottom along with the silver content of 800, This decanter dates from the early 1900’s & was made in Italy or Germany. It is stunning on every account .It is a useful table article & would also make a perfect gift. Measuring 11 ½” tall x 4” wide x 3” deep.
