A sumptuous period blouse that is very collectible...we give this a 10! Very fine quality embroidered Belgium net with raised dots. The height of fashion in its day, it features all of the most desirable details you would want in a blouse or waist from this period...the late 19th early 20th century. "S" curve or Wasp style with lavish lace and high neck. Women love wearing these today....with jeans, formal wear, or for reenacting. **The body is the raised dots embroidered net, which was truly a big fashion statement during the period and you can see why. The sleeves are gathered at shoulder, the body is S curve style or wasp style, it is knife pleated...which adds to the beauty of the look. It is lined in extra fine and sheer ivory Japanese silk. **The front of the blouse is beautifully trimmed in a cascading ruffle of fine Brussels net. This ruffle is trimmed in a smaller scale raised dot net. High collar. The sleeves are 3/4 length and fuller....gathered at the shoulder. They have deep fitted cuffs which feature a fine lace and net lace trim. **The blouse closes up the back with hooks and eyes. It is lined.....the lining and net are quite sheer. We show it with a camisole underneath (you can see it peaking out from under the bottom in the first image), and without. Both ways are beautiful. C O N D I T I O N: Overall Very good to excellent condition. The lining has some issues....a few holes and spots ...but this cannot be seen from front. We replaced some of the hooks and repaired the lining closure as the old hooks were rusty and damaged the lining. It works and looks beautiful now. There are a few holidays in the net....nothing that really detracts. S I Z E: Overall length is approx 15"....this does not include the bit of lining below waist area. Also it is longer in the front where it blouses over. Waist area approx 26", bust approx 36". Sleeve length: 20", armhole 15" |
