French Bronze Vide Poche Candle Stand , 1870

French Vide Poche with bronze bird, 2 small candle holders and arms for pocket watch and rings. From the French to turn out the pockets...one would come home and light the small candles in the holders, empty their change into the surface and hang their watch and rings on the arms. Quite utilitarian as well as being highly decorative.

In very good condition and great patina.Bird is quite exceptional.
