French Gothic/Medieval Desk-European Oak Early 1900's

An Antique French Gothic /Medieval  Style Desk with Hand Carved Ornamentation – European Oak, converted to a desk from an old trunk at some point in its history -  Iron pulls added later – Very Good Antique Condition – Redone as a desk - Early 1900’s-Trunk is from an earlier time.

This Antique French Gothic /Medieval Style desk with three side drawers and one center drawer has hand carved linen fold decoration on the drawer panels.  To the left of the chair opening , there is a cabinet which also has a beautifully carved linen fold frontage.  The sides and front panels carry motifs of gothic arches, fleurons, c -and s-scroll ornamentation incorporated into ogives, and a tree of life.  The front corners are embellished with different saints, one carrying a book and the other a plaque, resting upon Doric capitals with acanthus leaf decoration and three quarter shaped columns with incised diagonal detailing.  The back corners are three-quarter columns with Doric capitals with acanthus leaf decoration.
