	An absolutely wonderful and unusual subject matter in a miniature oil painting. The painting is of a male subject painted on ivory with a signature to the right of the man’s right shoulder. The work is very good, highly detailed and extremely life like. On the back under glass there is a piece of black cloth and a lock of hair. The mounting is completely handmade it is actually I would say almost a quarter of an inch thick. There is a hallmark on the side of a falcon head facing left which I believe is the French gold standard hallmark for 18 kt. Gold. This painting is fashioned in a pendant style with a very stylish hook on the top and it appears to be that it was intended to be worn on a pocket watch (perhaps) – anyways very interesting it is not often that you find such a great one with a maker’s hallmark.
