	A beautiful French walnut games table. Used in the 19th century for bridge or cards, the table is also called an “envelope” table because of the manner in which the top folds and unfolds for use. The top is made in four sections which are triangular in shape and hinged on the edges. When needed for cards, each section unfolds and the top swivels to make a square surface. When not in use for cards, the top folds inward and swivels back to become a center table or end table. This table is made from French walnut in the style of Louis XV. It is graceful in design with Louis XV shaped legs and a beautiful carved and shaped apron. The carvings are highlighted with original parcel gilt which gives the table an elegant appearance. The apron carvings depict swags and leaves and the knees display nice floral carvings. The shaped apron is also nicely carved and parcel gilt highlighted. The top is veneered in beautiful crotch walnut veneers; the original felt is missing but could be replaced easily with the color of choice. This is a great piece for use as a games table or just for use as a side table beside a sofa is needed. Table has a great color and patina and would fit in many decors.
