Georgian Gold Pearl Hair Brooch Ivory Mourning Art

Superb Georgian, late 18th C Ivory painted brooch surrounded in seed pearls and gold backing. Verso is a wonderful hair art with the initials which look to be TM.

Approx. 3/4 by 1 1/2 inch painting of a Grieving woman at a large anchor with a ship out to sea in the distance.

Quite beautifully presented. Represented a husband or loved one Lost at Sea. More common occurence in the 17th and 18th Centuries due to Sea Faring Enterprises.

Thr back is of high carat gold pin nack glazed too reveal hair art.

Condition is quite lovely and a wonderful example of sentimental mourning art
