Georgian Mourning Ring Ivory Painting, 1786

Georgian Mourning ring with ivory painting. A marquise bezel with a neo-classical sepia of the grieving widow by her husbands tomb. The woman is leaning close to the urn and on the front of the tomb is a depiction of the deceased. It is inscribed Loss Irreparable. Some small snippets of hair are incorporated into the painting. The shank is nicely engraved. Gold ring though I am not sure of the karat.

Back of the ring is inscribed: Geo King died 25th of July 178 Aged 37.

In wonderful condition and Approx. size 7 ring.
