German Stoneware Mythological Punch Bowl & Punch Cups

A spectacular – fabulous and famous German stoneware Mettlack Germany. This is quite the intricate punch bowl on tray. Every inch of it is molded in high relief and in the reserves all around the top of the lid and around the edge of the plate are German sayings. I hope you can see all of the decorations – the mythological figures, the dolphin finial, and the towns’ people dancing and celebrating all the way around the middle of the punch bowl. Mark on the bottom of the castle or Abby mark impressed for the date 1887. There are twelve punch cups all marked with a green stamp mercury mark and they also say made in Saar Basin and I believe these punch cups are associated and date form the 1930’s as far as my research tells me. There are slightly different in texture and color but an elegant and complimentary match.

Measurements: The cups measure 3 ¼”h and the diameter of the opening is 2 5/8”. The punch bowl measures 14 5/8”h and the overall diameter is 14”. The platter measures 16 3/8” in diameter.
